zThe Independent National Electoral Commission -INEC, has claimed that its result viewing -IReV portal had been attacked by malicious hackers from Asia during the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections this year.
Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman revealed this titbit in a keynote address at a stakeholders’ conference regarding the election result management in FCT Abuja on Friday, September 9.
The Electoral Commission Chairman while admitting that INEC had recorded a lot of failed attempts to hack the cyber security system of the result viewing portal, also said that the other administrative challenges were currently being worked on.
Finally, Yakubu made promises that INEC would be unveiling whole new legal provisions, administrative procedures, and technological innovations to promote election conduct in the country, come 2023.
