INEC Ready for Sokoto Governorship Elections- Commissioner

On Tuesday at the State Collation Centre during the Stakeholders meeting with the  Leadership of the political parties, Major General Modibo Alkali, the National Commissioner in charge of elections in Sokoto state said that the Independent National Electoral Commission is very ready for Saturday’s Governorship elections in the state.

He further assured parties that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System has been reconfigured and what happened during the February 25th Presidential Elections will not repeat itself.

He also promised that the Elections will be free and fair and they they have the responsibility to make sure that no one causes problems during the elections, and if there are any such a person will be arrested not minding the social status of the person.

And that such a person will be paraded for the whole public to see and taken to Abuja to be handed to the Inspector General of Police.

“We have the mandate to ensure whoever causes problems during the election no matter how highly placed such a person is will be arrested.

“After such a person is arrested, he will be paraded before the public and thereafter taken to Abuja to be handed over to the IGP for prosecution ” he added.
