As midterm elections approach, the U.S is now looking inside the Plot to impeach Donald Trump, a movement that is gaining real momentum, especially due to the fallout from the Iran war.

The Warning from Wilbur Ross

Wilbur Ross, who served as Trump’s commerce secretary, recently told Newsweek that the stakes for the upcoming midterms are “extremely high.” He made it clear that if Democrats win control of the House of Representatives in November, they will almost certainly move to impeach the president again. Ross believes that if they also manage to take the Senate, the chances of a successful conviction are very real.

The Iran Connection

The potential move to remove the president is not just about old grievances; it is heavily tied to the current conflict with Iran. The details inside the Plot suggest the Iran war is the main catalyst for this new push. After Trump’s aggressive warnings that a “whole civilization will die” if Iran did not lift its blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, many Democratic lawmakers began calling for his removal, citing his conduct as dangerous and impeachable.

Inside the Plot to Impeach Trump Over Iran War Fallout

While some Democratic leaders are trying to keep the focus on legislative priorities rather than impeachment, the mood in the party is clearly shifting. Many lawmakers now see the president’s handling of the Iran situation as a “millionth” impeachable offense, turning what was once a fringe idea into a serious political conversation.

A Dangerous Distraction

While Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has stated that the party is currently focusing on economic issues rather than making removal their primary campaign talking point, he explicitly noted that they “haven’t ruled anything out.”

In my view, the party is simply playing it smart by keeping its cards close to its chest until the votes are counted. Once the midterms are secured, the political reality will shift instantly. Securing the House requires only a simple majority to pass articles of impeachment, but controlling the Senate would give critics the numbers needed to actually uphold a conviction. If the GOP fails to rally its base over the economic and military fallout of the war, it will walk straight into an inescapable impeachment plot that could end Trump’s second term early.
