The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has remarked that the prevailing shortage of Premium Motor Spirit supply in the South-East may not end soon because of the challenges marketers face in buying the products.
This information was revealed by Chinedu Anyaso, the Chairman of IPMAN, Enugu Depot Community in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu state, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka on Saturday, February 4.
Meanwhile, a NAN correspondent who monitored the fuel situation in Awka on Friday, February 3, reported that petrol was sold for between N400 and N450 per liter and then between N500 and N600 in the black market, depending on the time one came to purchase the product.
Anyaso also revealed that the number of products coming into the South-East had reduced by over 50 percent compared with what they got during the normal time while revealing that at the moment, the situation was bleak-looking as nothing was suggesting the easing of the problems as certain depots were yet to get the supplies, they paid for over a month ago.
“Many stand to lose their jobs if the situation persists as no marketer will continue to pay workers when they were not in business.” Anyaso had additionally revealed.
