Iran’s judiciary officially affirmed the detention of a Swedish citizen employed by the European Union on Tuesday.
Last week, both Sweden and the European Union Commission disclosed the detention of a Swedish national in Iran, marking the most recent instance of a foreign national being held in the country amidst escalating political tensions with Western nations.
According to Iran’s judiciary spokesperson, Masoud Setayeshi, “The Swedish national has been lawfully incarcerated pending a preliminary inquiry, and the findings of a comprehensive investigation into his case will be disclosed in the forthcoming days.”
