The extremist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the recent attack on a Shi’ite mosque in northern Afghanistan.
The attack, carried out through a devastating suicide bombing, tragically resulted in the loss of at least seven worshippers, as confirmed by a government official.
The incident resulted in the loss of seven lives during the prayer service, while an additional 15 individuals sustained injuries, according to the official. Within Afghanistan, the administration controlled by the Taliban has been grappling with an ongoing insurgency led by Islamic State militants.
This group has asserted responsibility for a sequence of lethal assaults targeting civilians, foreign nationals, and various other targets.
