Israeli authorities have arrested two individuals following the death of a 19-year-old Palestinian teen in the occupied West Bank.
The incident occurred when Israeli civilians reportedly attacked the Palestinian Burqa village, throwing rocks and setting fire to cars on Friday night.
The Israeli military’s preliminary investigation indicates that clashes started when Israelis arrived to herd sheep near the village, and tensions escalated with the arrival of Palestinians from the town.
Both sides engaged in verbal confrontations, leading to the hurling of rocks and fireworks by Palestinians and gunfire by Israeli civilians.
The confrontation resulted in the death of the Palestinian teenager, injuries to four others, and the discovery of a burnt Palestinian vehicle.
Washington has expressed concern over the increasing attacks by Jewish settlers on Palestinian villages in the West Bank, where violence has escalated over the past year.
