The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said on Tuesday that it has finalised plans to host the 2024 policy meeting on admissions to higher institutions.
The board announced this in its weekly news bulletin, stating that the meeting would be headed by Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman, with other key stakeholders in the education sector in attendance.
According to JAMB, these critical stakeholders include heads of regulatory agencies, such as the National University Commission, NUC, National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, National Council for Colleges of Education, NCCE, heads of tertiary institutions in the country, and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, among others.”
JAMB noted that the policy meeting on admissions sets the tone for any particular year’s admission exercise, as well as the formulation of admission guidelines.
It also provides application statistics, evaluates candidates’ performance, and establishes acceptable minimum admissions standards for all tertiary schools in Nigeria for the current year.
Bottom Line
This is an important outcome as it determines the baseline score required for admission consideration across different institutions.
