The world number one, Jannik Sinner, won a thrilling encounter against Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Sinner outlasted his Spanish opponent, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3, to claim the $6 million title.
The 23-year-old Italian showed his wish to have his rivalry with Alcaraz last long because right now both of them are leading the tennis world. “This kind of rivalry pushes us to give our 100% every time. I hope it lasts as long as possible,” Sinner said in the post-match interview.
Then he added, there were many others who were also great players in the mix, which is going to make the future of the sport exciting.
Sinner and Alcaraz are both two-time winners of Grand Slams this year, having faced off a total of 10 times on the ATP tour. Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 6-4 but Sinner snapped his recent three-match winning streak in this final.
Despite this fierce on-court battle, the two remain close friends off the court. Four-time Grand Slam winner Alcaraz also talked about the rivalry: “I am happy to share the court with him and will do everything to make this rivalry even better.”
