Three men were found guilty of armed robbery and murder and given death by hanging sentences by Jigawa State High Court No. 8, which was sitting in the Kaugama Local Government Area.
Suleiman Bello, Auwalu Muhammad, and Yakubu Muhammad were found guilty of nine charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and armed robbery by use of a firearm and were sentenced to death by hanging by the presiding judge, Justice M. M. Kaugama.
According to the prosecution team, which was led by Jigawa State’s honorable attorney general, Musa Adamu Aliyu, the defendants were charged with murdering Audu Saje at Manda Village in Kaugama Local Government and stealing his motorcycle.
He claimed that the suspects also kidnapped Hadiza Abdullahi of marma town in Kirikasamma Local Government and demanded a 150 million Naira ransom.
According to Judge Kaugama, who rendered the decision, the prosecution’s attorney had successfully proven the cases using circumstantial evidence from five witnesses who testified in court.
According to him, the first, second, third, and fourth defendants were each given a death-by-hanging sentence for the crimes of culpable homicide under section 221(a) of the Jigawa State Criminal Code and Armed Robbery under section 1(2) of the Weapons (Special Provision) Act, Law of the Federation.
He claimed that the verdict will prevent others.
