Award-winning songwriter and filmmaker, Abdur Rasheed Bello, famously known as JJC Skills has announced that he has returned to Islam, his father’s religion.
The ex-husband of popular actress turned politician, Funke Akindele, had made this known through a series of posts on his verified Instagram handle and corroborated his declaration in an interview with an Islamic online platform, Muslims News on Thursday, January 19.
According to JJC Skills in the interview, he was originally born into an Islamic family but he had never practiced it as he chose to follow the faith of his mother. The musician had further remarked that his newfound faith was God’s design and that he would be fully embracing the Islamic religion.
These are his words:
“I was born a Muslim and given AbdurRasheed by name. My dad, Bello is a Muslim while my mum is a Christian. Back then, I would go to Islamiyah but all I remembered about it was getting beaten. They used to scare us with hellfire so, I never practiced it.
“It’s God’s design that I am returning to Islam. I thank Allah for sparing my life.
“I am so happy I found Islam again because it has given me peace. It has given me direction and focus. I was truly lost but now, I am found,” he had admitted.
