Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is expecting to be sidelined at least until after September international break after suffering a leg injury in training. The former Borussia Dortmund star started the 1-1 draw with Mallorca last Sunday and will thus miss his side’s coming matches—this weekend’s clash with Real Valladolid, for one.
In fact, now Real Madrid has confirmed his injury as well since they mentioned in an official statement. Bellingham has been diagnosed with a problem in his right leg’s plantaris muscle, and the club remains alert to his conditions with further reports awaited. Manager Carlo Ancelotti also alluded from the front, “Bellingham had a blow, he is currently being evaluated” as he spoke in his pre-match press.
It would potentially mean that Bellingham could miss two important matches—one against Las Palmas and another one against Real Betis—and also the matches of the Nations League, the Republic of Ireland, and Finland in September.
Bellingham missing this one, though, might see veteran captain Luka Modric back to the starting eleven. Ancelotti already has big issues with a very thin squad in Eduardo Camavinga’s knee’s injury and David Alaba’s recovery from torn meniscus and ACL injuries mean none of those players will feature. In addition Ferland Mendy’s suspension increases the selection headache for Ancelotti.
