June 12: Nigerians Defy DSS Warning, Stage Protest on Democracy Day

Several aggrieved citizens had flouted thrown caution to the wind, flouting the DSS warning and came out in droves on Wednesday, June 12 to protest against the current state of the country.

The aggrieved Nigerians had taken to the streets to demonstrate against the hunger and economic hardship.

Some of these protesters included residents from Lagos State who had assembled in Ikeja, chanting for President Bola Tinubu to be unseated from power.

They had called out their demands in light if the present economic hardship Nigerians are facing, stressing how the citizens couldn’t feed their families comfortably under Tinubu”.

Similarly, in Abuja, furious Nigerians had gathered under the Berger Bridge to protest against Tinubu government.

The protesters displayed placards bearing messages that read;
‘President Tinubu, let the poor breath’, and ‘Reverse all anti-people, Neoliberal policies of privatisation.’

One of the protesters had taken to his X page to post, saying;
“We called for it and we are on the street in Ikeja Under Bridge. The tyrannical and oppressive government of @officialABAT must be shown the way out. We are hungry and angry. WeAreHungryProtest. June12Protest.”

The defiance of Nigerians against the warning from the Department of State Services (DSS) and their mass turnout on June 12 to protest the current state of the country underscores the depth of their grievances.
