The Academic Staff Union of Universities -ASUU, has just suspended its eight-month-old strike conditionally.
According to reports, the union ended the strike after a meeting with its leadership on Thursday night October 14. This meeting lasted well into the early hours of Friday, 14 October 2022.
The meeting had been organized by the union to determine its next line of action after its state branches met over the Court of Appeal ruling last week.
The Court of Appeal had ordered ASUU to suspend the strike action before its appeal of the ruling, directing lecturers to resume work can be heard.
The members of the union’s National Executive Committee, -NEC, which comprises the chairmen of the state chapters and members of the national executive, were in attendance for the meeting held at the ASUU National Secretariat in Abuja.
ASUU had begun its strike action on February 14, 2022.
