The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has just issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, for it to reverse all perceived “anti-poor” policies, including the recent surge in the pump price of petrol, or face an indefinite nationwide strike beginning on August 2.
As a result, the NLC has directed all its affiliates and state councils to henceforth, start the mobilisation of workers and other Nigerians, including civil society allies, for the planned long-lasting strike and mass demonstrations if the government fails to meet its demands.
This had been one of the decisions agreed upon by the NLC’s Central Working Committee, CWC, meeting held on Tuesday, July 25, at the Abuja Labour House.
