President Bola Tinubu has given assurances that the National Population Commission, NPC, will soon conduct the previously botched census in the country.
Tinubu had made the assurance on Wednesday, November 8 at the launch of the National Geospatial Data Repository, Digital CRVS System and the inauguration of the National Coordination Committee for CRVS at the Presidential Villa in FCT, Abuja.
While calling for partnerships among Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, Tinubu had highlighted the relevance of information to the overall national growth.
Tinubu had also called on the census experts to dispatch cutting-edge technology in collecting data on Nigeria’s population, remarking that the country could not afford to fall behind planning a well regulated data sourcing.
President Tinubu had further said that Nigeria had a lot to be grateful for because it was thankfully, not prone to natural disasters like in other parts of the world.
The immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari had approved the sum of 200 billion Naira to the Population Commission to run a national census.
Although a huge sum of the funds were deployed by the agency in the preliminary stages of the census collation, the Federal Government had to postpone the exercise owing to other pressing demands.
