Justin Timberlake’s Forget Tomorrow World Tour has come to a standstill as the pop icon faces some major health setbacks, compelling him to cancel several of his upcoming dates. Only recently, the 43-year-old took to his Instagram to reveal he has bronchitis and laryngitis, conditions that render him incapable of performing. The tour had planned stops in cities such as Columbus, Chicago and Detroit, but it is now scheduled for early next year, giving the singer time to recover. “I’m so sorry to say I do need to reschedule,” he wrote to fans, promising he’ll “make it up to you” when he returns to the stage.
This isn’t the first hiccup for the Forget Tomorrow tour. Earlier this month, Timberlake caught flak for canceling a New Jersey show just an hour before its scheduled start due to a last-minute injury. And though that show was rescheduled almost immediately, his tour momentum as a whole has been largely marred by sudden delays, including a notably viral moment in Montreal when a fan rejected his attempt to serenade her mid-song. He’s built a fanbase off the idea that Timberlake puts on one heck of a show, but this string of unforeseen breaks is pushing it on just how well he can satisfy fans’ lofty expectations.
Offstage, Timberlake also has been dealing with legal issues: In September, he pleaded out a DWI charge to a lesser offense and agreed to 25 hours of community service. But all told, Timberlake remains optimistic, as do his fans, who very much want him back. For the time being, however, the singer is taking care of himself in hopes of regaining the stamina for those athletic performances.
