Timothy Uwar, the lucky survivor from the Kaduna Church attack on Sunday has spoken up, “It was just God that spared my life and that of my wife’s because the third person killed just as the attack started was very near to my wife’s hideout”. The Kaduna State government has reported that the unknown gunmen attacked St. Thomas Catholic Church and Maranatha Baptist Church both located at Rubu village in Kajuru LGA.
Mr. Uwar has disclosed that an estimated 9 people were missing after the ill-fated attack happened on Sunday. He had also disclosed that the attack started shortly after the church service began at 8 am. “When the sounds of gunshots were heard in the village, and I saw people running, I quickly grabbed my wife and we ran too”, “I had to separate from my wife as she went to hide somewhere but I sustained injuries when I fell into a ditch while running” He further added.
Mr. Timothy had further stated that he was happy that his 5 children were away at the period when the gunmen attacked. This has been the third attack since 2022 but Mr. Uwar has said that he doesn’t plan on moving away from the village just yet. The State Government in Kaduna has confirmed that the gunmen shot at individuals while on motorbikes. This unfortunate incident came just two days after the burial service of the victims from the last church attack that occurred in Owo.
