Kaigama Cautions Presidential Candidate Over Impossible Promises
Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, has warned the presidential candidates vying for the 2023 elections against deceiving Nigerians with impossible campaign promises that would not be realistic.
His warnings had been directed at notable candidates including Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC Atiku Abubakar of PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPC.
Rev. Kaigama had also tabled agenda for the winner to meet, including resettling Internally Displaced Persons, rebuilding terrorized communities, and squarely facing the security challenges as the country gears up for the year’s polls.
Kaigama had aired his opinion in his New Year Message to Nigerians.
He had said, “Our prayer this year is for peace to flow like a river and social progress, human solidarity, and development to characterize all of 2023.”
“Politicians on the campaign trail now should do so without hatred, malice, incitement or misinformation and greatly exercise caution that they do not make wild and unrealistic campaign promises that deep in their hearts they know are not workable and therefore impossible.”
