The Kano State Hisbah Board Department of Public Enlightenment has issued a warning to non-Muslim residents of the state against them eating in public places during Ramadan Fasting.
The Director-General of the Board, Abba Sai’Idu revealed this during a chat with AIT.live. Sai’Idy had, claimed that it was unlawful for Christians and other non-Muslims to eat openly or do anything publicly that would sabotage the Islamic religion or put those fasting into temptation by their actions.
The Hisbah Boss considerably stated that the enforcement team was now organising more consistent patrols across the city to apprehend any Muslim seen engaging in any practice not in accordance with Islamic culture during the holy month.
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, Muslims are required to abstain from eating, drinking, sex and smoking during the daytime and other acts not permitted by the Holy Quran.
The Kano State Hisbah Board takes their warnings seriously, as in 2021, they apprehended eight women and three men for eating during Ramadan.
The arrested persons were caught in a raid by Hisbah personnel at Tudun Murtala of Nassarawa Local Government and Sharada area of Kano Municipal, where they were found eating when they were not supposed to.
