The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has criticized the attack of innocent parishioners of St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state.
The governor took to his official Twitter page to make a statement about the incident. He said he was saddened and shocked by the event on the Owo people which he describes as peace-loving people. He called the attack a “vile & satanic attack” and promised to hunt down the killers and make them pay for the evil they had brought on the people of Owo. He begged the residents of Owo to remain calm and be also vigilant. He also asked them not to take laws into their hands as security operatives have been sent to the area to bring normalcy to the place.
“I commiserate with my people in Owo, particularly families of the those who lost their lives to this ugly and unfortunate attack. I extend my condolences to Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye as well as the Catholic Church.”
St. Francis Catholic Church had been attacked by unknown gunmen on Sunday while mass was going on and over fifty persons are feared dead, while others are severely injured.
The situation of the country is sad.
