There was palpable tension at St. Claire’s Anglican Girls Grammar School, Offa, in Kwara State, following an alleged invasion of demons.
The school was shut down on Friday, May 28 after strange voices of demons were heard within the school premises.
The mysterious development caused panic among students and teachers of the school.
The strange incident happened at about 1200hrs, when students began shouting and running helter skelter after hearing strange voices suspected to be from ‘demons’.
The students reportedly ran out of their classes and school hostels fell and rolled on the floor.
Spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Afolabi, said they were told by the school’s Senior Principal, Mrs F.B Ogunwole that the incident took the school management by surprise.
She added that she suspected ‘demons’, as the same ugly incident happened in 1978.
A 17-year old student, Uthman Mariam who was a victim narrated her ordeal.
” I saw some girls dressed in a different colour and calling me to join them, but I refused to answer their calls as they wanted to force me to mingle with them.
” That was why I was shouting and fell unconsciously on the floor.”
Parents have been allowed to evacuate their wards.
