The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has offered his sympathies to the Kwara State governor and the families of the unfortunate boating accident that claimed numerous lives in Patigi, Kwara State.
The boating mishap had occurred on Tuesday, June 13 when the boat ferrying about 250 wedding guests overturned around Patigi Local Government Area, killing about 106 passengers and injuring 144 others.
Abiodun’s condolence message, issued on Thursday, June 15, contained regrets that too many lives were lost in the disaster.
President Tinubu had additionally, commiserated with the victims of the boating accident, and promised that his administration would look into the various challenges of inland water transportation nationwide, to prevent further avoidable boating accidents.
If this is implemented, it will be a truly commendable feat, especially now that the country is in its rainy season. The probe will go a long way to help mitigate possible deaths as a result of the bad weather.
