Kenneth Okonkwo, a well-known spokesperson for the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign, has strongly criticized the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for not being a good leader and not fixing the problems inside the party.
In a serious letter shared on social media, Okonkwo, who is a respected person in Nigerian politics and movies, said he was very disappointed with Obi’s way of leading, which he thinks is not clear and does not have a good plan.
Okonkwo’s harsh words were about Obi’s failure to solve the ongoing leadership problems in the party, which have caused confusion and doubt among the party members. He said that Obi’s unclear decisions on important matters have greatly affected his ability to properly represent the party and its goals.
The spokesperson’s criticism came as a surprise, given his initial backing of Obi’s campaign for the 2023 elections. Okonkwo had high expectations for Obi’s leadership, but now feels utterly let down by his failure to strengthen and unite the party.
Okonkwo’s letter highlighted particular instances where Obi made leadership errors, like not openly supporting the Labour Unions, who founded the party, in their efforts to stop it from being controlled by criminals. He emphasized that a direct statement from Obi could have resolved the issue, but instead, the party is now mired in internal conflicts.
The Labour Party, once viewed as a viable challenger to Nigeria’s established major political parties, is now facing a significant crisis. Okonkwo’s harsh criticism of Obi sends a clear signal to the party’s leaders to take decisive action and provide clear direction to its members.
