The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has rejected Soyinka’s challenge to a public debate with Nobel Laureate.
Baba-Ahmed, in a statement on Saturday, April 8 by the Obi-Datti Media Office, had remarked that he could not take up Soyinka’s offer of a public debate due to political and cultural reasons.
According to Baba-Ahmed’s statement, it wasn’t decent for a debate to take place if one considers their age and accomplishment gaps and for Datti to sit opposite the 88-year-old global icon and point out his folly to his face, even if the older man called for it.
