Labour Turmoil: Police Launch Investigation Into Alleged Attack on Union Leader

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has launched a deep probe into the alleged assault on the National Labour Congress President. Reports suggest Ajaero faced police arrest and a severe beating in Imo state, landing him in the hospital. Strangely, Imo state police deny ever detaining Ajaero, hinting at a hidden political warning for him to steer clear of Imo’s politics.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed the Inspector-General’s order, emphasizing the importance of clarifying the conflicting versions surrounding Ajaero’s assault. Promising transparency, the police aim to unravel the truth behind the incident, recognizing the need for public trust.

This incident unfolded in Owerri, Imo State’s capital, during Ajaero’s leadership of a union strike. The Inspector-General pledges a comprehensive and fair investigation, reassuring both organized labor and the public of his personal intervention to address the issue at hand.
