Only four months after closing the 18L (domestic) runway of Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, for extensive repairs, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has now closed the 18R (international) runway for the same reason.
The runway would be closed for eight weeks to allow for work, according to FAAN’s verified tweeter handle.
Nonetheless, FAAN guaranteed that the international runway closure will not have an impact on flight operations.
The domestic runway’s taxiway B-18L would be utilized for all flight operations throughout the period, it stated.
Also, it was discovered that all airlines, notably those operating in Nigeria from abroad, had received a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) informing them of the development.
