On Tuesday morning, April 2, the dead body of Gbolahan Oyedemi, —a Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Lagos State Police Command— was discovered dead in his private home in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The late DCP had been a native of Ogbomoso, Lagos State and also the aide de Camp (ADC) to a former governor of Oyo State, late Adebayo Alao Akala, in 2006.
According to reports, the DCP had travelled to Ogbomoso to celebrate the Easter festivities in his home town, prior to his death.
Yet-to-be verified sources had informed Leadership Newspaper on Tuesday morning that his body was found hanging in a section of the house on Monday, explaining that the cause of the DPC’s death had been due to suicide.
A former aide to late Governor Akala, who had served at the same time with DCP Oyedemi, had expressed regret over his former boss’s death saying,
“He came with his aides and we heard that he discharged them to go and celebrate Easter with their respective families only to hear that he committed suicide yesterday (Monday).”
An anonymous source had said that the deceased had been unmarried.
At the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, had yet to release a statement regarding the tragedy.
