Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, has cautioned Simon Ekpa, the factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to terminate plans to stage the sit-at-home protest in Lagos State.
Gani Adams has issued this warning after Ekpa had announced that the sit-at-home protest currently being enforced in the South East would additionally be observed in Lagos State.
According to Ekpa, the sit-at-home movement was to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
Gani Adams had however cautioned the Finnish-based ethnic propagandist to halt his plans and refrain from repeating the mistakes of the 1970s.
Adams had also maintained that the South-West was not a part of the ‘Biafran Republic’ so it was ridiculous for ‘outsiders to dictate or impose their agenda’ on residents of other regions. He had also commented that the sit-at-home was counterproductive and totally uncalled-for.
Gani Adams had ended the statement by severely cautioning Ekpa to be very, very careful.
Simon Ekpa has since Nnamdi Kanu’s imprisonment, been stirring up trouble for both South East residents and Nigerians at large. One might wonder why someone not presently in the country could wield so much ‘power’ over a particular region, especially as he is a self appointed leader.
If Ekpa is truly the freedom fighter he claims to be, he should come back to Nigeria and fight like Chukwuemeka Ojukwu had for the actualisation of Biafra.
