An eight-year-old boy, Onyeka Umeh narrowly escaped the clutches of death as he was saved from drowning by the Lagos State Fire Service in Ejigbo, Lagos.
According to reports, Umeh had been on the verge of drowning in the open water at the end of Pastor Ojediran Street, the road behind Oba’s Palace before the timely intervention of the fire service men who handed the boy over to the Ejigbo Division of the Police, who reunited him with his family members.
Umeh’s friend had revealed that Umeh’s hobby was to collect pet bottles from the area and had been the one to spot him drowning after which he alerted the fire service to the situation.
