Universities in Nigeria, are centers of indecent dresses, most faculties without dress codes are no-go areas, with students wearing all manner of dresses that are not lecture worthy.
Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello has given instructions that Lecturers should prevent students who are indecently dressed to class from receiving lectures.
In a Circular, the Vice Chancellor, stated that students have breached the dress code as prescribed by the university, he further warned that Clothes that bare some sensitive parts of the body are banned, and all kinds of baggy jeans which go below the waist are prohibited also, indecent piercings also are banned.
The female students were banned from wearing tinted hair, colored hair, lashes, and long artificial nails.
Any student found wanting in any of these areas will be punished according to the rules and regulations of the school.
apparels; wearing clothes that reveal sensitive parts of the body; wearing shirts and tops with an obscene, obnoxious, or seductive inscription; wearing face caps or complete covering of face (very dark glasses), wearing “baggy, saggy or ass-level clothes and any other form of indecent trousers and piercing of body and tattooing.”
While the male students were barred from wearing earrings and necklaces, including plaiting, weaving, or bonding of hair, the female students were cautioned not to wear, “lousy, unkempt, extremely bogus hair or colored artificial hair, brightly tinted hair/eyelashes/brown, fixing of long eyelashes, nails, and artificial dreadlock.”
The university management however noted that any student found violating the dress code on the premises would be sanctioned accordingly.
