Manchester United could intensify their pursuit of Spain sensation Dani Olmo after Manchester City withdrew from the race for his signature. Olmo’s RB Leipzig contract contains a £51m release clause which expires next week, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona also in contention. Additionally, United have received a boost in their chase for Matthijs de Ligt, who has informed Bayern he wants to move to Old Trafford. However, both Manchester United and PSG have seen bids rejected by Benfica for midfielder Joao Neves

Liverpool have held talks with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong, who is also wanted by Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. His £34m release clause is set to expire soon. Paris Saint-Germain have made a €200m bid for Napoli duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but the former Serie A champions are reluctant to sell.

Aston Villa forward Moussa Diaby is willing to leave the club to join former Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad. Meanwhile, Barcelona will offer a five-year contract to Nico Williams, which will include a salary increase after two years to comply with financial regulations.

Bologna will only sell Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal if the Gunners meet their £42m transfer fee demand plus a sell-on clause. Arsenal’s latest bid was worth £40m including add-ons. Arsenal might also shift their interest from Martin Zubimendi to his Real Sociedad and Spain teammate, Mikel Merino.

Contrary to recent reports, Real Madrid will not pursue Merino this window. Chelsea have ended their summer pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion after club-to-club talks stalled and will now focus on Lille’s Jonathan David and Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.

Tottenham Hotspur lead Newcastle United in the race to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves, citing their participation in Europe next season and the allure of living in London. West Ham United are still in talks with Southampton over Kyle Walker-Peters, potentially involving Flynn Downes heading in the opposite direction.
