Law Suit Judgement Looking to Sack Buhari Will be Delivered on Monday

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja is geared to deliver a landmark judgment on Monday, January 30 for a suit seeking the removal of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), from office over reported irregularities during the 2019 presidential election.

The judgment slated to be delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo would also be resolving a request seeking to halt the 2023 presidential election scheduled for February 25.

A notice for the judgment delivery seen on Friday, January 28 by journalists at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja revealed that the verdict would be made at 9 am by Justice Ekwo.

Recall that the Rivers State-born presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party, HDP, in the 2019 election, Chief Ambrose Owuru, had taken legal action against Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to Owuru, he had asked the court to determine the legality of the electoral body INEC in 2019 to postpone the election from February 16 to March 23.

He claimed that INEC acted against the constitution in illegal & unlawful ways when the presidential poll was moved and so, the declaration of Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the unlawful act should be pronounced null and void and of no effect.
