For the first time in 24 years, the Lakers superstar will be up for grabs. The Lakers officially announced on Wednesday that they will lose the most talented player in their organization this upcoming season.

After what was the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat guard’s final season, it’s no doubt this announcement will send Shockwaves all over the basketball community, due to not only his tenure with the franchise but that he’s arguably one of the greatest basketball players of all-time.

This decision was made following a disastrous Lakers playoff exit after they were swept by OKC in round 2 of the West Conference. LeBron played the last four seasons with Los Angeles. Although LeBron did help this team get a chip with them back in 2020, his tenure is officially over. He has expressed no desire to return to Los Angeles in his final NBA season.

Some reports have close sources close to LeBron claiming the former Ohio State Buckeye is trying to team up with a championship-contending team in his last chance at winning one before retirement, and there is some interest in LeBron possibly joining Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Jeanie Buss, Governor of the LA Lakers, released the following quote about LeBron leaving their organization,” LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in history, and we will always be grateful for his eight years with the Lakers, including the title he led us to in 2020”. LeBron even missed close to 20 games with the team during this past season, but still recorded stats that demonstrated a great level of play, averaging just over 20 pts, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds per game.
