LeBron James recently spoke about fresh excitement heading into his 22nd season with the Los Angeles Lakers, knowing that the chance to play alongside his eldest son Bronny gives him extra drive. The 39-year-old superstar-who will equal Vince Carter’s record for most seasons played in the NBA-is looking forward to being on the court with Bronny, selected 55th overall by the Lakers back in June.
During the Lakers’ media day, James called working with the 19-year-old son a blast. “It’s pure joy to come to work every day and watch him grow,” James said. “We push each other and it’s a special moment not just for me but for our family.”
But while the two compete with and push each other on the court, James revealed a much more relaxed relationship at home, joking about how Bronny eats and plays video games – with little basketball talk – every day.
Coming off that gold-medal-winning performance for Team USA in the Paris Olympics, James is more rejuvenated as the NBA season approaches. The Olympics-putting on a lineup of superstars like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry-reminded him he has the ability to compete at an elite level.
Playing meaningful basketball again brought the fire back,” James said, adding that the gold medal win proved to him that he still had plenty left in the tank for the upcoming challenges of the NBA.
