Liberians are not having it easy with their President, a former footballer, and the third African player to ever win the Balon D’or title, Weah traveled abroad since October, to attend some political meetings and to watch his son play in the world cup for England.
Liberians condemned George Weah for allowing his son to play for England, as they tag it as the highest disloyalty to the core. George Weah who has been absent in his country for a Long, has begun to attract criticism as citizens complained that he abandoned his country, despite the economic challenges in the country, while he is busy watching football matches in Qatar.
“This one here has passed the limit now… who (has) he left us with?” 23-year-old Abraham Kaneh told AFP in the capital Monrovia.
“He’s not going to do the work of the Liberian people. He went to do the work of his son. He did not go on our plea, he’s gone to see other friends,” said fellow Monrovian Momo Fully.
