The second leg of the North Charity Match fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United happened at Anfield on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
If we can recall, Liverpool defeated Manchester United in the first leg game in a 3-1 win which took place in Old Trafford.
The match saw United recruit some fresh faces, ex-captain Roy Keane was in action at Anfield.
Manchester United took the lead in the first half when Dimitar Berbatov scored the first goal for United after receiving an assist from captain Micheal Carrick, this ended up being the only goal in the first half. Mark Gonzalez scored an equalizer for Liverpool after receiving a pass from Bobbie Keane. In the 82nd minute, Sinama Pongolle scored another goal for Liverpool putting them in the lead. Manchester United failed to equalize giving Liverpool victory.
Manchester United released a Statement explaining the use of the money raised from the match, which will be used to support communities across the North West
The statement said, “Proceeds from both games will go towards supporting communities across the North West.
“Our game in May raised over £1.3m, helping to make a difference in the lives of young people involved in our projects.”
