The US awarded businesses with defense contracts on Friday, including one worth more than a billion dollars to Lockheed Martin Corp, according to a statement from the Department of Defense.
According to the department, the $1.05 billion Lockheed contract “procures long lead time materials, parts, components and efforts necessary to maintain on-time production and delivery of 118 Lot 18 F-35 aircraft for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, non-US Department of Defense participants, and Foreign Military Sales customers.”
Lockheed Martin was awarded a $431 million Defense Department contract earlier this month to provide the US Army and its international allies with new High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and associated services.
Separately, the department announced on Friday that Boeing Co. had been granted a $497 million firm-fixed-price contract for CH-47F helicopters, with a projected completion date of December 30, 2025.
