Luxury powerhouse LVMH has recently announced its collaboration with the Paris Olympic Games next year, showcasing iconic fashion brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior, as well as the renowned Moet Hennessy champagne and spirits labels. Adding to the grandeur, jeweler Chaumet will take charge of designing the prestigious event’s medals.
As part of the sponsorship, LVMH will also support notable athletes, including the talented French swimmer Leon Marchand, while its beauty retailer Sephora will proudly sponsor the Olympic torch relay. The French delegation will be elegantly dressed by one of LVMH’s esteemed “maisons.”
The exact terms of this significant deal, facilitated by Antoine Arnault, one of the heirs of LVMH’s Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault, remain undisclosed. However, it is estimated to have a value of approximately 150 million euros ($166 million), encompassing promotions for the group and its prominent fashion and champagne labels.
Antoine Arnault expressed his excitement about the Games being an opportunity for France to shine during the official announcement. With the Olympics just a year away, these high-profile negotiations between the Paris 2024 Organising Committee and LVMH, Europe’s most valuable company with a market capitalization of over 400 billion euros, have garnered much interest in France.
While this partnership presents an incredible opportunity, it also comes with potential risks, as global geopolitics and controversies surrounding domestic matters can impact the event’s reputation. Similar to previous Olympics, issues concerning athlete participation and social unrest may come into the spotlight during Paris 2024.
LVMH joins other notable sponsors like Airbnb, Alibaba, Coca-Cola, and Toyota in supporting this global sporting spectacle.
