Manchester City’s match against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group fixtures on Tuesday night ended in a goalless draw.
It was indeed a tough game as City pressed on their opponent but could not register any goal in the first half. Fortunately, City was awarded a penalty after Emre Can foul one of City’s players, but unfortunately, the penalty which was taken by Riyad Mahrez got saved by Gregory Ikobol, Dortmund’s goalkeeper. The match ended in a draw since no team was able to find the net.
Man City fans have taken to social media to blast Mahraz for always missing penalties, this is the 10th penalty he’s missed and clamored that he shouldn’t be allowed to take penalties again.
Pep Guardiola has expressed his frustration over their missing penalties, which is not encouraging. They’ll have to improve to cover the loopholes in that area.
He said, “Of course, it’s a problem, since I was here we miss 25 penalties, most in CL. Not good enough…”
“Always I admire the courage, but we miss a lot. We have to improve, otherwise, the little details or margins in this competition make the difference.”
Manchester City made it through to the knockout stages despite the draw.
