The hearing into Manchester City’s 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations is set to start on Monday, according to ESPN. City were referred to an independent commission in February 2023 over alleged violations back to the 2009-10 season, relating to the provision of accurate financial information.

It also allegedly breached the Premier League rules which require clubs to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations between 2013-14 and 2017-18. City also face allegations regarding profit and sustainability rules, known as PSR, for breaching regulations between 2015-16 and 2017-18.

City, who won a record-breaking fourth successive Premier League title in May, were in shock when initially charged with:

“The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.”

The hearing is set to begin on September 16 and can take upwards of two months. A final verdict, considering any appeals, is expected by the close of the season. If they are found guilty, City could be pummelled with severe penalties such as points deductions or even relegation.

The Premier League and Manchester City declined to comment ahead of the impending hearing.
