Manchester United forward Antony has filed a legal claim against his former club Ajax seeking the return of hundreds of thousands of euros in withheld wages.
Ajax fined the Brazilian for missing training sessions and a league match against Sparta Rotterdam, after he joined United from Amsterdam-based Ajax for a fee in the region of €95 million in August 2022. His absence was an act of protest against Ajax’s alleged exorbitant transfer fee, which delayed negotiations with the Premier League club.
According to Dutch publications Voetbal International and Algemeen Dagblad, Ajax fined Antony three separate times, with a huge chunk of his wages being withheld prior to his exit. Fast forward 27 months and the 24-year-old and his lawyers have launched an arbitration case against the Dutch outfit.
A judgement could be made in a month, with Antony hoping to get the money, withheld by the 36-time Dutch champions, paid to him.
