Manchester United’s current season is far from what fans expected, especially after their impressive performance last year. The woes continue as right-back Wan-Bissaka faces weeks on the bench due to injury, adding to manager Erik ten Hag’s growing list of concerns.
Despite a promising start under the Dutchman, off-field problems have coupled with dismal results on the pitch. The recent 3-1 home defeat to Brighton marked a historic low, with three losses in their first five games – a Premier League first for the Red Devils.
Injury struggles plague the team, with players like Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, and Raphael Varane sidelined. Although Ten Hag denies a crisis, the absence of Wan-Bissaka will pose a significant challenge as they prepare for a tough Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is sidelined due to injury sustained in Saturday’s match against Brighton and Hove Albion,” the club stated. His return date remains uncertain, but it’s likely to be several weeks.
Interestingly, last season, Cristiano Ronaldo was often blamed for their troubles, but with him gone, it appears United’s issues run deeper. Ten Hag, who guided them to Carabao Cup victory and a top-four finish in the EPL last year, may have made questionable signings this season, particularly goalkeeper Andre Onana. David De Gea’s departure was influenced by his incompatibility with Ten Hag’s style, and Onana’s struggles in conceding goals are concerning.
Manchester United’s current form is a cause for concern, and they don’t look as formidable as they once did. Fans can only hope that they avoid the bad luck that plagued Chelsea last season.
