On Monday in Ibadan, Oyo State, a member of the National Union of Electricity Employees performing the match pass in observance of Workers’ Day unexpectedly tumbled down from the ladder used to illustrate the union’s insignia.
Workers’ Day is a yearly celebration in Nigeria that celebrates the contributions of workers.
According to an eyewitness, the compere invited all the affiliated unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress one after the other for the yearly match pass. When it was NUEE’s turn, they brought a ladder, arranged it, and had one of them climb it up to demonstrate how they normally unplugged the electricity supply.
As he was doing so, in the presence of the state governor, Seyi Makinde, and others who were eulogizing him, the ladder snapped in two and he fell.
His current location is unknown. However, he was quickly rescued and taken away, the eyewitness emphasized.
