Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Chapter, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo has reacted to the death of the Union’s vice chairman, Samuel Kayode.
Federal Character gathered that Kayode, also known as Epo Kinkin, was killed by a gunshot during a political rally around the Agboju, Satelite Town in Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
He was gunned down on Thursday evening, while attending the flag-off of APC’s local government campaign at Oriade Local Development Area.
Chairman of the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Mr. Valentine Buraimo also graced the rally.
While the rally was ongoing, gunshot was suddenly heard in the crowd.
This led to the crowd scampering into safety and it also brought the rally to an abrupt end.
A stray bullet reportedly hit Samuel Kayode in his leg as he was later found in the pool of his blood.
Epo Kinkin was rushed to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Navy Town, Ojo, where he was confirmed dead.
Jimoh Buhari, a spokesman for the NURTW said Kayode died while protecting a fellow politician, Wale Yusuf, from harassment.
In his reaction, MC Oluomo commiserated with friends and family of the deceased.
He appealed to Lagos State Police Command to fish out the perpetrators responsible for the death of Samuel Kayode.
He further urged union members to be security-conscious, and avoid mingling with uncontrolled crowd.
