A mechanic has been sentenced to one year in jail by a Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin for cybercrime offenses.
Adebayo Muhammed Bolaji, aged 27, who is a native of West Local Government Area of Kwara State was arraigned on a two-count charge before the court on Wednesday, October 12, by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC, according to a statement released by the Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren.
The trial Judge, Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar on Thursday, October 13, sentenced Muhamed Bolaji to 1 year in jail, after finding him guilty of offenses bordering on cybercrime and possession of fraudulent funds.
Adebayo’s journey to the Nigerian Correctional Centre had begun on September 15, 2022, when the commission acting on an intelligence tip-off about the activities of certain internet fraudsters operating along Airport Road, Ilorin had apprehended him.
Adebayo Muhammed Bolaji had thereafter, on being tried, pleaded guilty to the charges.
The trial judge had also ordered that the convict’s Toyota Camry, an iPhone 13, and the sum of $520, which he brought as restitution would be forfeited to the Federal Government.
