Megan Thee Stallion was granted a five-year restraining order against rapper Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to ten years in prison after shooting her in the feet in 2020. The Los Angeles court ruled on January 10, 2025, after Megan testified via a remote appearance about her fears for her safety if Lanez is ever set free.
“I feel like maybe he’s going to shoot me again, and this time I won’t be so lucky,” Megan said, testifying during a hearing and recounting her lasting trauma from the 2020 incident at Kylie Jenner’s house.
The restraining order is a civil harassment order, meaning that on no condition; even upon release, can Lanez contact or come near Megan Thee Stallion.
Contrary to Megan’s objections, Tory Lanez’s lawyer had ensured the court that Lanez “has no desire to communicate with the petitioner [Megan] ever again.”
This ruling is a new chapter in this high-profile case, which shook the entertainment world and put a stamp on the bravery of Megan to face her fears while still fighting for justice and safety.
