Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, players from Inter Miami, have recently presented a new football club in Uruguay named Deportivo LSM football club. This was their latest business move apart from their profession. Named after the initials of the two athletes, the club will contest Division D – the fourth level of Uruguayan football.
The team was born in the country of the striker, Luis Suárez, who is the major driver of the project, Messi was called to become a co-owner. The venue will be located at Ciudad de la Costa in Luis Suárez Complex, a 20-acre area which holds a place with synthetic turf stadium for 1,400 spectators.
“It’s a family dream. We started in 2018,” identified Suárez as the beginning of the dream while speaking in a video. Alas, we have grown up to 3000 members. I want to move forward in Uruguay and help by creating projects for young people to grow for football said Suárez.
Uruguay’s top scorer of all time, Suárez, first made a name for himself at Club Nacional before heading to Barcelona and then winning numerous titles and records with Messi. The connection still exists at Inter Miami as well as in club ownership.
Messi, talking in the launch video of the club, said, “I’m glad to be part of this project and also to help it to grow.”
On the other hand, Inter Miami are seeking to reverse the situation, after a poor record, they have won just one of their last eight games.
