Lionel Messi, the renowned Argentine star, is set to bid farewell to Paris St Germain (PSG) as he plays his last game against Clermont this Saturday, according to PSG coach Christophe Galtier. Galtier appeals to fans to give Messi a heartwarming send-off at the iconic Parc des Princes.
Since his move from Barcelona in 2021, Messi has been a formidable force for PSG, tallying an impressive 21 goals and 20 assists in all competitions this season. The 35-year-old maestro signed a two-year contract with the French club.
Messi’s illustrious career includes leading Argentina to victory in the recent World Cup held in Qatar and earning an extraordinary seven Ballon d’Or awards. He has already clinched the Ligue 1 title for PSG in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, along with securing the French Super Cup in July 2022.
However, recent reports in French media revealed Messi’s two-week suspension due to an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia instead of training with his team. This incident added to the speculation surrounding his future at PSG.
Sources close to the Argentina captain said that he received a formal offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for the upcoming season. Furthermore, media outlets have also linked Messi with a potential return to his boyhood club, Barcelona, as well as a move to Major League Soccer club Inter Miami in the United States.
