Bam Adebayo was on fire as he scored 83 points to help the Miami Heat get past the Washington Wizards 150-129 on Tuesday evening. With this outstanding point tally, risen above the iconic Kobe Bryant to become the second-highest single-game scoring figure in NBA history.

In fact, Adebayo broke Bryant’s 81-point achievement by making two free throws at the dying moments of the fourth quarter. He ended up 17 points short of the greatest record set by Wilt Chamberlain back in 1962 when he scored 100 points.

Right from the start, the Heat center took control, scoring 31 points in the very first quarter and outscoring the entire Wizards team, which only managed 29 points in the period. He kept up the scoring spree and by halftime was at 43 points, the highest for any NBA player in the first half for almost 30 years.

More scoring exploits following the break made Adebayo roll over the team single-game scoring record of James, and at the end of the third quarter found himself just behind Bryant’s record with time remaining.

In the end, he recorded an 83-point game from 20-of-43 shooting, hitting seven three-pointers and 36 free throws, besides eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks in one of the greatest performances in NBA history.
